These are apple blossoms from the trees at the FDR Memorial. When I was a kid, my grandfather used to take me out into the woods every summer to the apple tree, and he'd shake the branches until the petals fell like snow. We'd take whole blossoms and attach them to kite string and make thick wreaths for my mom and grandmother. Mom would put hers in a bowl of water and it scented the kitchen for days afterwards. So when I found these, I spent several minutes standing under the trees to enjoy the fragrance.
